Kevin and Gods Nature

Yesterday I heard a knock at my door. Ladies from the Kingdom Hall (Jehovah's Witness) were awaiting my answer. They have come to my house to talk now several times. I wondered what they wanted to chat about today. They know I have a Church that I am happy with, and as long as they know that I enjoy the conversation.

Well, the lady said with a concerned look "Lindsay your dog is sitting on that bank by the pond with an animal."

I slipped my gum boots on and headed out to investigate.

There sits our Hooch with a little fawn. Curled up and licking him.

I yelled "Hooch!" several times but he wasn't budging. He looked at me as if to say:
"No Momma. You need to come here. Something isn't right."

So up the hill I go. The little fawn tried to stand but his back legs wouldn't work. He is not a tiny deer but Hooch was not leaving him. I gathered the pitiful boy up and carried him down to the front of the house. Aiden and Parker came out with blankets (it was very cold).

Lady and Hooch took shifts guarding their animal friend.

I made up a mixture of milk, buttermilk, and evaporated milk. The same mix that I had gave to our goat Bella when we bottle fed her. Goat and deer are very closely related.

Aiden just made over "Kevin". At first we called her little girl but to our surprise she was not a little girl. We had just watched the Disney Movie Up and decided that Kevin was appropriate.

Kevin is cute. He ate some apples and lettuce too.

Hooch was very concerned about his little friend.

Why would my dog go sit by a helpless deer and REFUSE to budge until I came to his rescue?

They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. -Romans 1:19-20

The little deer didn't make it. We only had it in our care for 24 hours or less.  We called the game warden who told us we could try to assist the deer as long as we let it go.

He was in bad shape.

Last night I ran out to try one last bottle around 12:00 midnight.

Kevin was perky and drank his bottle and I was hopeful.

I took a cloth and rubbed down his coat. I cleaned his face and he looked at me with his giant innocent eyes.

I knew that he would most likely not make it.

As I rubbed him he had this calm, like when you pet a cat and her eyes close and open and you can see she is happy and peaceful.

Little Kevin passed through the night but the last look I saw on his face was complete gratitude and peace.

Gods invisible qualities were all over this situation. He cares to teach us about caring for something weaker than us. He makes the opportunities.

He makes the creatures that need us.

He expects us to care for his creation.

Little Kevin's visit is a gift from God that we will not forget.
